Picture
Choice depends on room light, how far back the projector can sit, and whether a console will be connected. We confirm all three at the site visit.

Native contrast is the strength here, which is what matters most in a properly darkened dedicated room. The usual choice where black level is the priority.

Epson
High brightness and reliable lamp economy. A sensible answer for rooms that cannot be fully darkened, and widely serviceable.

BenQ
Strong range for mixed film and gaming use. Several models genuinely support 4K at 120 Hz with low input lag, which we verify before recommending.

Optoma
Broad range covering entry-level through to laser models, including short-throw options for rooms without depth behind the seating.

Sony
Native 4K panels and strong processing at the upper end of the range.

Yaber
Compact smart projectors at the affordable end. Suitable for a bedroom or a first setup, not a dedicated room.
Receivers and amplifiers
Amplification and processing
The receiver has to drive the speakers you have chosen. We size it against those speakers, not against the power figure on the box.

Wide range from entry 5.1 up to 11-channel processing. Reliable, well supported, and the receivers we service most often.

The Cinema series covers 7 to 13 channels. Preferred where two-channel music performance matters as much as film.

Strong value in the mid range, with solid channel counts for the money.

Dependable multi-channel receivers, well suited to living room systems.

Processing and room correction at the serious end. Worth it in a treated room where the correction has something to work with.

Class G amplification with a two-channel bias. For listeners who play as much music as film.

Modular design and honest power delivery. Long service life, which matters over a decade of use.

Integrated stereo amplifiers and DACs, for a music system alongside or instead of surround.

High channel counts and power for the price. A practical route to 11 channels on a tighter budget.
Speakers
Loudspeakers
Room size sets the sensible cabinet size. A large floor-stander in a small room is a common and expensive mistake, and we will say so at the site visit.

Uni-Q driver gives a wide, even listening area, which suits rooms where people sit off the centre line. Strong in-wall and in-ceiling range too.

Klipsch
Horn-loaded and highly sensitive, so they go loud on modest power. A popular choice for film-first systems.

Very good value across the range, with full 5.1 and 7.1 packages that work as a matched set.

Neutral and detailed, with a deep in-wall and in-ceiling range for installations where nothing should be visible.

Subwoofers
Low frequency
Position affects a subwoofer more than specification does. We place it by measurement, and in larger rooms two smaller units often beat one large one.

SVS
Sealed and ported models across a wide range of cabinet sizes, with app control and adjustable parametric filtering on the higher models. The usual recommendation where accurate, controlled bass matters more than sheer output.

Acoustech
The PL series, including the PL-300 twelve inch. Strong output for the money in mid-size rooms.
